Water Distillers

A Recent conversaton with a prospective Customer

Whether you go with the Reverse Osmosis (RO) system or the Steam Distiller I do think the garage will be the best place to install the primary unit because of it’s size and making it easy to service.  I would highly encourage you to consider the steam distiller as a water treatment option.  I have tried to make the following information as concise as possible as I know you have limited time to review.

I can      put in the very best top of the line RO system for relatively inexpensive      and have it provide adequate flow and pressure to all the locations in      your home but it will not provide your family with cleaner safer water.  And in the long run could easily end up      costing more than a steam distiller.       On large commercial scales like car washes, restaurants, or hotels      RO systems can be more cost effective but for the average home a steam      distiller wins out every time.

OR

I can      install the Crown Jewel of the Water Industry, a steam distiller.  This system is capable of taking water      not only from the city but even a pool, pond, stream etc and extracting      pure H2O resulting in the purest, cleanest water no matter what the feed      source is. This system is unaffected by boil water alerts or other issues      that can happen on any water supply.       The key is its reliance on the natural process of evaporation.  When water evaporates all else is left      behind.  This system is the best      water you could ever get for your family plus it’s already in place emergency      preparedness.

What ever you choose I want to be your water man for life.  Water treatment is a passion of mine.  I would like to be a resource for you to answer any of your questions about the above, as well as alternative full house systems.  There are some great water treatment technologies out there but there are also a lot of misunderstandings.  I have sat on the Arizona Water Quality Association Board AWQA for over 10 years now and constantly reviewing new products and technologies on the market.

Slimy Ro filters

IMG 20110427 143101.jpg.scaled.500 Slimy Ro filters

Today I went on a service call to service a Reverse Osmosis System.  The filters were 12 months old.  When I removed them they were covered in a thick slimy biofilm.  It was nauseating to both my customer and me. Although RO systems can remove dirt and make water taste better most residential RO systems do little to inhibit bacterial growth. It is critical that the filters be changed at least annually but preferably every 6 months.

Lower HE burned out

Water heaters have two heating elements. This is the lower one. It was buried in sediment at the bottom of the heater. The owner was wondering why they would run out if hot water so fast.  It didn’t take us long to figure out why.
